Memorial Services for Steven Lance Furlow will be held at 10 am Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Brownfield First Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Puckett officiating. Services are under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Steve was born March 11, 1949, in Lamesa, TX to Abe Lance and Anna Amelia (Rietman) Furlow. He passed away after a fierce battle with cancer on August 15, 2023. He lived in Dawson County and then Durango, Colorado, settling in the Union, TX area after college. He graduated from Durango High School in 1967 and Texas Tech University in 1971 with a degree in business.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Rex Wilkes, late wife Lisa and brothers-in-law Bryce Hensley, Jim Isgar, Richard Loos and Joe Hall. He is survived by his wife Rexann, the love of his life, sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Debbie, Adam and Trevah, Andrew and Fawn, stepdaughters and son-in-law, Whitney and Russell and Toni Ann, 10 grandchildren and mother of his children, Claudia. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Barbara (Norman), Marilyn (Jerry), Brenda, Sheila, and Mark (Carmen) and many nieces and nephews.
Steve’s life was dedicated to family and farming as he farmed and ranched in Terry, Lynn, Dawson and Parmer counties on his own and in partnership with siblings and his sons. Steve was active in his community and an advocate of farming, serving on the Union School, Terry County Soil and Water Conservation District and FSA Boards. When not farming, Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Steve had a great love for America and the ideals it was founded upon. Most importantly, Steve was a faithful Christian, Baptized into the Methodist Church, Received into the Episcopal church and later reaffirmed his faith in Christ.
