Terry Bertrand, a beloved member of the Brownfield community, gained her wings on July 5, 2023, at the age of 72. She was born on November 4, 1950, to Isidore John and Geneva Mae Staudt in Sweetwater, and brought warmth and joy to the lives of those around her throughout her journey.
Terry dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others. She worked at Staudt’s Jewelry for an impressive 21 years, where her talents as a gifted jeweler and engraver were showcased. Terry's passion for her craft was evident in every creation she made. After her time at Staudt’s Jewelry, Terry spent ten years as a clerk at Brownfield High School. She was a familiar face to both faculty and students, offering her unwavering support with kindness and compassion. Terry's impeccable work ethic went hand in hand with her tech-savviness. She embraced technology with enthusiasm, recognizing its potential to enhance various aspects of life. Her willingness to adapt and learn new skills showcased her unwavering determination.
Outside of work, Terry found solace in her faith and loved going to church. She found comfort in the embrace of her spiritual community and drew strength from her deep-rooted beliefs. Terry's presence in church was not only an expression of her faith but also an opportunity for her to connect with others who shared the same values. One aspect that set Terry apart was her exceptional character. Described as someone who never uttered an unkind word, she radiated love and acceptance wherever she went. Terry had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued—a true testament to her beautiful soul. Terry is preceded in death by her husband, James Bertrand; parents, Isidore John and Geneva Mae Staudt; her best friend and sister, Gelane Lynn Staudt Dowell and the best brother anyone could ever ask for, Craig Staudt.
Terry is survived by her sons, Scott Smith of Lubbock, Kenneth Smith and his wife Melissa of Granbury; her precious grandchildren who were her absolute pride and joy, Bryce Smith and wife Montine, Alyssa Garrison and husband Zachary, Masyn Mckinney and her husband Ethan, M’Kenly Smith and Madison Smith and her extra bundle of joy her great-grandson, Maxxon McKinney
To honor Terry's life, a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 10, 2023, at United Family Fellowship. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Brownfield Funeral Home. Friends, family, and community members are invited to gather and offer their final goodbyes during this time of remembrance and reflection. The service will be a testament to the lasting impact Terry had on those around her.
