Thelma Jean Benson

Services for Thelma Jean Benson, 91, will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Meadow Church of Christ with Bob DuPont officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Thelma was born on January 5, 1924 in Leonard to John and Carrie Overman. She graduated from Meadow High School. Thelma married J.A. Benson on February 20, 1943 in Clovis, NM. She was a farmer and worked as a manager for XYZ club. She was a member of Meadow Church of Christ and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Thelma was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Benson; parents, John and Carrie Overman; 2 brothers, Penn Overman and John Overman and 2 sisters, Floy Mae Blakely and Ruby Moorhead.

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Barbara Wheeler and husband Wayne of Plainview and Linda Trimmier of Boerne; grandchildren, D.D. Danchak and husband Randy, Tracy Ferree and husband Kelly, Jason Wheeler and wife Kaylene, Melissa Trimmier and husband David, Kevin Wheeler and wife Suzanne and Zane Trimmier; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Geiger and Sue Mantooth and husband Lonnie and sister-in-law, JoAnn McNeil.
