Memorial services for Thomas Alvin Hicks, Jr., 84, of Brownfield will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Brownfield Church of Christ. Bob Reynolds, Derek McNamara and Marcelino Banda will be officiating. Burial will be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Tommy passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at his home in Brownfield. He was born Sunday, November 12, 1922 in Munday, TX to Thomas Alvin and Bessie Darden Hicks. His mother passed away when he was 8 mths. old and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Pounds. He moved to Brownfield at 8 mths. old. He graduated in 1940 from Brownfield High School. He then attended Texas Tech University for 2 years before entering the service. Tommy was a WWII Army Air Corp. Veteran participating in the D-Day invasion of France. Tommy was a farmer, rancher and businessman. He owned and operated, starting up Brownfield Seed & Delinting and Plainview Seed & Delinting for over 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion, SPAG Municipal Water Board Member, former president and member of the Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow, Exec. Board Trustee for Lubbock Christian University, former President of BISD School Board, Board member of New Mexico Christian Children's Home, Treasurer for many years for the Terry County Historical Commission, President of Terry County Historical Museum Board, former Mayor of Brownfield, a Brownfield city Councilman, Board of Directors at First Bank of Brownfield and a member and Elder of Brownfield Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his aunt and uncle who raised him.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie; a son, Thomas A. Hicks, III of Lubbock and a daughter Linda Hardy and her husband Tommy of San Antonio; 3 grandchildren, Nanci Weldon, Kimberly Andrews and Cynthia Rowan; 6 great grandchildren, J. T., Jordan and Jayci Weldon, Skylar, Audrey and Hunter Andrews; 2 sisters, Nelda Van Dyke of Brenham and Bess Whitaker of Sunnyvale, CA.
