Services for Thomas "Tommy" Shipman, 92, of Brownfield will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating.
Thomas passed away on December 23, 2008 in Lubbock. Thomas was born on December 14, 1916 in Del Rio, Texas to Frank and Bula Shipman. He enlisted in the Army serving in WWII where he received many medals . He married Dora Lee Bristow on August 30, 1938 in Van Horn, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 12, 1993. He worked for Ozark-Mahonig Chemical Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1982. Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
He is survived by his sister, Josephine Mooring of Roswell; his niece, JoAnn Joy and her husband Dwayne of Capitan; his nephew, James and his wife Debby of Silver City; his nephew Mike Mooring of Roswell; his great nieces and nephews, Travis and Jared Joy, and Sara Collins and Wade Mooring; and several great great nieces and nephews.
Tommy will be in state on Friday from 10:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m.
