Thurman Q. Skains

Services for Thurman Skains of Brownfield will be held 10am Friday, October 31, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Brownfield with Dr. Carl Moman officiating and Ken Reeder assisting. Burial will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

There will be a family visitation from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the Brownfield Funeral Home.

Thurman was born June 27, 1930 in Terry County to Milton Scymore and Neuma Oleta Skains He attended Johnson and Brownfield schools. He married Sammie Newsom on July 10, 1984 in Las Vegas. He was a 60 year Mason, Scottish Rite, Shriner and an ag business man. Thurman is preceded in death by his first wife, Deenie Ballard Skains, son, Ryan Skains, two brothers, Hermon Skains, Milton Skains, and sister, Nadene Neel

Thurman is survived by his wife, Sammie Skains, of Brownfield; 5 children, Quin Skains and wife, Laura, of Denton, Lan Skains and wife, Pat, of Brownfield, Larry Newsom and wife, Tonia, of Brownfield, Karen Tidwell and husband, John, of Brownfield, Tressa Walding and husband, Brian, of Denton; brother, Douglas Skains and wife, Janice, of Artesia, NM; 12 grandchildren; 5 beautiful great granddaughters; and 2 great grandsons to carry on the Skains Legacy.
