Services for Tim G. Faulkenberry, 88, of Brownfield will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Brownfield First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Tim passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 in Wolfforth. He was born August 2, 1920 in Mitchell County, Texas to James Aaron and Ollie Edna Faulkenberry. He graduated from Loraine High School in 1938. Tim married Earlene Brown on August 25, 1941 in Colorado City, Texas. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific as an Infantry Scout in combat. He then attended Texas A&M University and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1951. He graduated in the top 10 of his class. That same year Tim and his wife moved to Brownfield and set up their practice. They built their animal hospital in 1955. He was a life member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Tim has been a member of Lions International for 58 years and a member of the Noon Lions Club for 50 years. He was a Charter Member of the Loraine Lions Club. Tim has been given two life membership's to the Lion's Club Crippled Childrens Camp for donations and work to help the camp. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years. He worked with the Girl Scouts as a community board member. Tim has served on the board of First United Methodist Church for 21 years. He was a trustee for the Brownfield Independent School District and for the Texas Association of School Boards. He donated his time to the Terry County Junior Livestock shows for 37 years, providing free health papers for entrants. Tim was a member of Brownfield First United Methodist Church where he was past chairman of the Worship Committee, trustee for the church property, member of the sanctuary choir and the finance committee.
His greatest joy has been to see his children graduate college and achieve successful careers. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and watching them grow.
Tim is survived by his wife Earlene; three sons, Dr. Tim L. Faulkenberry of Austin, James E. Faulkenberry and his wife Terry of Abilene and Jerry T. Faulkenberry of Ft. Worth; a daughter, Judy Faulkenberry of Lubbock; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Hester Faulkenberry of El Paso; one sister, Voncille Ball of Boyd.
