Tommy Ray Gorby passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Brownfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Vandalia, IL, on May 3, 1939, but spent most of his life in Brownfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judith; daughter, Pamela Jean and husband, Robert Young; son-in-law, Bobby Newberry; two grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Young; two granddaughters, Brandi and husband, Elvis Molina and Brittany Newberry; two sisters Paula Fisher and Brenda Logan; two great-grandchildren, Zayden and Oliver Molina; and two "almost" grandchildren, Braxton and Brynlee and mother, Trish Howard.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William and Blanche Gorby, his daughter, Diana Lynn Newberry, brothers, Bill and Don Gorby and a sister, Doris Fleming.
Tom worked for Harris Flying Service, where he obtained his pilot's license, and then for Amoco Production as a supervisor until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. Tom enjoyed arrowhead hunting and playing baseball on a home team in his 30s. Later, he played golf and cards with friends. He was always "very witty" and kept his wife and friends laughing a lot of the time. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
