Services for Virginia Pendergrass, 92, of Lubbock will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Virginia passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born December 8, 1921 to Murray L. and Waltha Nettles in Floydada. Virginia married Jay D. Pendergrass on December 17, 1938 in Meadow. They owned and operated Pendergrass Gin from 1957 to 1976. She loved to sing, play the piano, and paint. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; a brother, Harold Nettles; a sister, Mary Nell Askew; a brother-in-law, Robert A. Pendergrass.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, James and wife Sandra, of Lubbock, Keith and wife Pamela, of Pine Mountain, Georgia; a sister, Christine Pendergrass; a brother, Ronnie Nettles and wife Bertha; a sister-in-law, Diana Nettles; 7 grandchildren, Tonya Pendergrass of Ft. Worth, David Pendergrass of Lubbock, Chris and Rhonda Pendergrass of Amarillo, Jeff and Michelle Pendergrass of Midland, Koleta and Christian Huntsinger of Perry, Florida, Krista Pendergrass of Dothan, Alabama, Caleb Birdwell of Lynchburg, Virginia; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Buckner Children’s Home, Texas Boys Ranch of Lubbock, or Bayer Museum of Agriculture.
