Weldon Wayne Mason, 75, of Meadow, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 in Lubbock. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Meadow First Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Stovall of Cisco officiating and Bruce Stovall assisting. Internment will be at Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Weldon was born on November 18, 1931 in Brownfield to Glen C. Mason and Jackie Brown Mason. He graduated from Meadow High School in 1949. He married Novella Jordan on January 14, 1951 in Meadow. He was the State FFA President in 1950 and 1951. Weldon was the President of the Young Farmer's Association in 1963 and 1964. In 1965 he was named Outstanding Young Farmer in Texas. Agriculture and livestock continued to hold a special place in their hearts as they grew to include 2 sons, Steve and Larry, and a daughter, Sandy. They received the Outstanding Farm Family Award for outstanding accomplishments in conservation and rural leadership in 1984. Weldon served on the Lyntegar Electric Board of Directors from 1977 to 2004. He was a long-time member of Meadow First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Jackie Mason. He will be greatly missed by his wife Novella of Meadow; his son Larry Mason and his wife Sara of Plains; his son Steve Mason and his wife Susan of Brownfield; his daughter Sandy Craft and her husband Ron of Plains and many special friends. He is survived by his brother Wendel Mason and his wife Vada of Lubbock; his sister Betty Fulford of Weatherford. Weldon was blessed with five grandsons: Cody Mason of Dallas, Jett Mason of Brownfield, Kelton Mason and his wife Carrie of Seguin, Landon Craft and Brandon Craft of Plains; and one granddaughter, Ashlei Mason Cooper and her husband Aaron of Lincoln, Nebraska. Family Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8th at the Brownfield Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Hospice of Lubbock at 1717 Norfolk, Lubbock, TX 79416, and to the Meadow Cemetery.
