William Randall Yarbrough, known by family and friends as Randy, passed from this earth on May 3, 2024, at the age of 67, at his home in Lubbock. He was born on June 5, 1956, to William Bailey and Mary Ellen Burrow Yarbrough in Denver City, TX. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Chris Seaton officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Randy's family moved in 1959 to seven miles north of Tokio, TX, to a Honolulu oilfield camp. In 1962, they moved to Brownfield, TX. He attended Brownfield Public Schools, graduating from Brownfield High School in 1975. After graduating, he worked for Dixie Electric in Sundown and later worked for other oilfield services and drilling companies. Moving to Lubbock he worked for a company that installed golf courses and later in Shiloh, Arizona. Returning to Lubbock, he worked and resided at Coachlight Apartments until his retirement in 2021.
Survivors include a son, Nathaniel Reese Yarbrough of Lubbock; mother, Mary Ellen Yarbrough of Wolfforth; grandchildren, Ariel Yarbrough, Nathaniel L. Yarbrough, and Serenity, all of Lubbock; a great-grandson, Malachi; a sister, Rita Murry and husband Max; and a niece, Morgan Lester, all of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his father, Bailey Yarbrough, in May 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st St, Lubbock, TX 79410 -- a sole faith-based, non-profit hospice. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff for their support and care for the last four weeks. As Nathaniel, his caregiver, said, "they are angels."
