Celebration of Life services will be held for Winnie Jo on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 am at Brownfield Church of Christ. Family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
The Lord called her home on December 20, 2007 after a valiant struggle from the effects of a stroke suffered in August. Winnie Jo was born in Glen Rose, Texas and came to the Brownfield area as a young teen. She soon met a young man named Bob and together they had five children. They celebrated their 70th anniversary shortly before Bob’s death. She is also preceded in death by two of her children, Buford Burnett in 1959 and Anita Schlueter in 2001.
Winnie Jo had a love of music and singing and instilled that in her children. She was fond of the harmonica and taught herself to play. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She worked in sales in Brownfield for forty years and was very active in ranching with her husband.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are daughters Sue Rowland of Seattle, Lea Criswell of Lubbock, Peggy and her husband Richard Lentz of Hobbs, New Mexico, son-in-law Arnold Schlueter of Farmington, New Mexico, sister Mildred Caffey, sister-in-law Florine Pace, 11 grandchildren, also great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Covenant Medical Center, Hospice of Lubbock, and the staff of the Plaza for their care.
