Memorial services for Ysmael H. Vela will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 2 pm at Victory Worship Center in Brownfield, TX with Pastor Jimmy Vela officiating.
Ysmo passed away, peacefully March 14, 2020, after an onset battle of cancer in his loving home. He was born on August 16, 1941, to Lorenzo and Barbra Vela in Yorktown, Tx. Ysmo married the love of his life Soveida Guzman on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1961, in Wharton, Tx. He was an amazing husband, loving father, grandfather, and a caring uncle, cousin, and friend. He was definitely a jokester. Always making someone laugh. Most importantly a God-fearing and giving man who loved unconditionally.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Barbra Vela, 2 brothers, Domingo and Manuel Vela, 2 sisters, Criselda Gonzales and Palmira Puente, and 1 grandson, Jay Vela.
Ysmo is survived by wife Soveida Vela of Brownfield, 5 children Jimmy and wife Janie Vela of Lubbock, Susan Olivan and husband John of Dallas, Eloy and wife Betty Vela of Brownfield, Mickie Vela and Vickie Vela Marroquin of Brownfield. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
