Brownfield Funeral Home was originated in 1920 by Longbrake & Adams, which was also the Brownfield Hardware Store. Roy Collier started working for them in 1925. Longbrake sold to J. B. Knight in 1937. In 1946, Roy Collier purchased the funeral home from Mr. Knight. He then bought the Simon Holgate home and made it into Brownfield Funeral Home.
Carrol Collier joined his father at the funeral home in 1957. He operated the business until January 1, 2001. He sold the business to his longtime manager and Brownfield native, Robert G. "Bob" Jones and his wife Jacalyn. Ironically, Bob is the grandson of J. B. Knight, whom Roy worked for in the 1930s and 1940s.
On June 1, 2014, Bob and Jacalyn sold the funeral home to their manager, Gary Rigdon and his wife, Tina. Gary and Tina continue to provide the commitment to caring that has been a tradition of Brownfield Funeral Home from the very beginning.
